CALANTHE LODGE No.5

Calanthe Lodge No. 5 was Instituted on June 30, 1883 in Salt Lake City with a chartering membership of 30 new Knights.
Almost to a year following the  instit- ution of this lodge, the Grand Lodge of Utah was instituted. This lodge has some of it's own notable members.
Not many records remain of Calanthe Lodge due to break ins, and things being either left behind or destroyed by fire.

History

MYRTLE  LODGE  No. 1

Myrtle Lodge No. 1 was Instituted on November 16, 1873 in Salt Lake City with a chartering membership of 19 new Knights.
Myrtle Lodge stood alone in Utah for 8 (eight) years before the charter of Ogden Lodge No. 2.  There were some very notable members of this Lodge. George F. Prescott ( a former Editor of The Salt Lake Tribune), as well as Brigham Young, Jr. (Son of Pioneer Brigham Young), and Earl O. Leatherwood (Utah's only to date Supreme Lodge Officer).
In our archives, we still have the original book of the first night of existence. In it, it has the very first "handwritten" By-Laws and Constitution of this Lodge. It's a wonderful piece of history.

CALANTHE-MYRTLE  LODGE  No. 1

Calanthe-Myrtle Lodge No. 1 was Instituted by an Act of Consolidation of Myrtle Lodge &  Calanthe Lodge on March 8, 1904 in Salt Lake City.
This lodge is still active in it's community service and fraternal activities. The membership is made of all kinds of back grounds, and religions.
We operate under the Grand Charter of the Grand Lodge Knights Of Pythias of Utah.
Calanthe-Myrtle Lodge No. 1 is always looking for men to become Knights. This lodge has a long legacy of Friendship, Charity & Benevolence and we look forward to operating another 100+ years in Salt Lake City.
